Worth the Trip was commissioned by Newlyn Art Gallery to mark their extension and the opening of The Exchange Gallery in Penzance, in 2007. The book is the outcome of an extensive process of cataloging and extracting repeated words and phrases from the Newlyn Art Gallery visitors book from a three year period. The resulting list of 4356 words draws attention to the ways in which the gallery’s audience distill their encounters with (and responses to) the artwork on display, the environment and the experience of visiting England’s most westerly contemporary art gallery.
